Welcome to my new blog! My name is Katie and I fall within the lower-middle-aged demographic where I sometimes feel like the things I do are maybe a little too young for me. I do them, anyway, and now I’m going to make you read about all it. I think of the age bracket between 35 and 50 as sort of a gray area. We’re not really middle-aged and we’re certainly not old, but we’re not as young as we used to be, either. Sometimes I feel wildly out of touch with friends my age who seem to have settled down really, really well while I just see opportunities to do as much as I can while I’m still young enough to do it. I could perceive myself as just being very immature but that’s no fun. I choose instead to see myself as fighting the good fight to get the most out of life.
My tastes have certainly changed since I was younger. Whereas backpacking and staying in hostels used to be standard, I now relish the thought of a private hotel room and a comfortable bed after a long day of trekking about. The good thing is that I have more money at my advanced age so I can afford more creature comforts than I could as a poor student. So, don’t expect me to revert back to my early 20s lifestyle but do expect me to push myself a little bit to experience more than is easily accessible.
Lately there is so much I want to do with my life! I want to start a new business, learn to sail, buy a vacation home, learn to drive an RV, get back into the shape I was a year ago, take my dog to the beach, get really into soccer, walk in the park more often and perfect my rum punch recipe. In addition to all these exciting new things, I expect to continue with my habits of exercise, healthy eating, pool parties and watching MMA. It may not all be super exciting I’ll try to make it all fun!
